About these terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of reziora - a digital community platform operated by Big Friendly Group (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa ("reziora", "we", "us", "our").
By using reziora - whether as an operator, a resident, or a family member - you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
Who uses reziora
reziora has two types of users:
- Operators - organisations (such as a retirement village, lifestyle estate or property group) that subscribe to reziora to provide a community platform for their residents. Operators are responsible for their community configuration, their resident data, and how the platform is used within their development.
- Residents and family members - individuals who use the reziora platform as part of a community managed by an operator. Residents access the platform under the terms agreed between their community operator and reziora.
What reziora provides
reziora provides a configurable digital community platform that may include, depending on the operator's configuration:
- A community home screen with events, notices and daily information
- A resident directory with interest-based matching
- A local life directory of nearby places and groups
- Community Intelligence Search - an AI-powered search of community knowledge
- Meal menus and opt-out management
- Maintenance and service request management
- Facility booking
- Community notices and announcements
- Family access portal
- Community analytics for operators
We reserve the right to add, modify or remove features at any time. We will give operators reasonable notice of significant changes.
Operator responsibilities
If you are an operator using reziora, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about your community during setup and keep it up to date
- Obtain appropriate consent from residents before adding them to the platform
- Comply with applicable data protection laws in your jurisdiction, including POPIA (South Africa) and UK GDPR (United Kingdom) as applicable
- Use the platform only for lawful purposes and in connection with the genuine management of your residential community
- Keep your administrator credentials secure and notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised access
- Not use the platform to distribute spam, unsolicited communications, or content that is misleading, harmful or illegal
- Ensure that any content uploaded to the platform (documents, images, notices) does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights
Operators are the data controller for their residents' personal information. reziora acts as a data processor. Operators must have a lawful basis for processing resident data and must ensure residents are informed of how their data is used.
Resident and family member responsibilities
If you are a resident or family member using reziora, you agree to:
- Use the platform only for its intended purpose - connecting with your community, accessing community information and services
- Provide accurate information in your profile
- Be respectful in any interactions with neighbours through the platform
- Not attempt to access other residents' accounts or private information
- Not use the platform to harass, defame or harm other residents or staff
- Not post content that is unlawful, offensive or misleading
Community Intelligence Search
reziora includes an AI-powered community search feature. By using this feature:
- You understand that responses are generated by an AI model and may not always be perfectly accurate
- You understand that information you contribute to your community profile may be used to generate search responses for other residents in your community
- You should verify important information (such as medical or legal matters) through appropriate channels rather than relying solely on search results
We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of Community Intelligence Search results.
Intellectual property
reziora and all associated software, designs, trademarks and content created by us remain the intellectual property of Big Friendly Group (Pty) Ltd.
Content created by operators (notices, event descriptions, community documents) remains the intellectual property of the operator. Content created by residents (profile information, recommendations, posts) remains the intellectual property of the resident.
By uploading content to reziora, you grant us a limited licence to store, display and process that content for the purpose of operating the platform.
White-label and branding
reziora is a white-label platform. Operators may configure the platform with their own branding, colours, logo and community name. The underlying platform and technology remain the property of Big Friendly Group (Pty) Ltd.
The reziora name and logo may appear on sign-in screens and in technical contexts. Operators may not represent the platform as their own proprietary technology.
Availability and uptime
We aim to keep reziora available and running reliably. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates or circumstances beyond our control.
We will endeavour to give advance notice of planned maintenance where possible.
Fees and payment
reziora is provided to operators on a subscription basis. Fees, payment terms and cancellation conditions are set out in the separate agreement between reziora and each operator.
reziora is free for residents and family members to use. Residents do not pay reziora directly.
Termination
Operators may terminate their use of reziora in accordance with their subscription agreement.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the platform where:
- An operator or resident breaches these terms
- We have reason to believe the platform is being used unlawfully
- An operator's subscription lapses and is not renewed
On termination, operator and resident data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the data retention terms in the operator agreement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, reziora and Big Friendly Group (Pty) Ltd are not liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform
- Loss of data, revenue or opportunity resulting from platform unavailability
- The accuracy or completeness of content posted by operators or residents
- Decisions made on the basis of Community Intelligence Search results
- Any harm arising from interactions between residents facilitated through the platform
Our total liability to any operator is limited to the fees paid by that operator in the three months preceding the claim.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Big Friendly Group (Pty) Ltd from any claims, losses or expenses (including legal costs) arising from your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the platform.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
For operators based in the United Kingdom, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under English law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify operators of significant changes with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of the platform after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
